Fox News Lies About Riots In Russia

FOX, lies & the wrong videotape: What’s NOT happening in Moscow

Written by:
December 8, 2011
By Katerina Azarova
"Now, even though FOX news has kindly told us that this is, in fact, Moscow – as a Muscovite, one glance is enough to tell me it’s NOT. First of all, the phone box – ours are a greyish-blue, and are few and between. In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I saw a public phone box, let alone anyone using it.
Secondly, the people in the background – the young couple pressed against the building? They’re dressed in jeans and long-sleeved tees.
It’s December. In RUSSIA. No one in their right mind would go to a rally (where most of the time, a lot of standing around is involved) in a tee shirt. People here wear thermals, ski jackets, hats and gloves – the works. Stereotypes are based on fact, you know – and Moscow is very cold in December.
But even if all of this isn’t enough to convince you – and believe me, I do not want you to just take my word for it, here is my final argument.
You may say ‘Hey, that looks Greek to me” – and you know what, you’ll be spot on. Greek it is – literally. And that sign? Says “National Bank of Greece” in those big, pretty, gold letters. FOX, it appears, isn’t satisfied with the REAL Russian rallies. They wanted a BANG! But there were no bangs, so I figure they thought “hey, it’s police running after people and fires and chaos – who on earth will be able to tell the difference?!” So they took videos from Athens, put a ‘’Russia” comment on screen – and voila, stick a fork in ‘em, they’re done.
How unfortunate that their broadcasts can be seen by pretty much anyone, anywhere.
I don’t harbor any hopes that the FOX people will see this and suddenly change their “errant ways”. But for the viewers – there are no palm trees in the streets of Moscow, the Prime Minister is spelled ‘PuTin’, not ‘PuTTin’ and the plural for ‘protester’ is ‘protesterS’. For future references."

Pikas

The pika is a small mammal, with short limbs, rounded ears, and short tail. It is also known as the "whistling hare" due to its high-pitched alarm call when diving into its burrow. The name "pika" appears to be derived from the Tungus piika.

Habitat

Pikas are native to cold climates, mostly in Asia, North America and parts of eastern Europe. Most species live on rocky mountain sides, where there are numerous crevices to shelter in, although some also construct crude burrows. A few burrowing species are instead native to open steppe land. In the mountains of Eurasia, pikas often share their burrows with snowfinches, which build their nests there.

Activity

Pikas are diurnal or crepuscular, with higher altitude species generally being more active during the daytime. They show their peak activity before the winter season. Pikas do not hibernate, so they rely on collected hay for warm bedding and food. Pikas gather fresh grasses and lay them in stacks to dry. Once the grasses dry out, the pikas take this hay back to the burrows for storage. It is not uncommon for pikas to steal hay from others; the resulting disputes are usually exploited by neighboring predators like ferrets and large birds.
Eurasian pikas commonly live in family groups and share duties of gathering food and keeping watch. At least some species are territorial. North American pikas (O. princeps and O. collaris) are asocial, leading solitary lives outside the breeding season.

Light Painting Photography

Light painting, also known as light drawing or light graffiti is a photographic technique in which exposures are made usually at night or in a darkened room by moving a hand-held light source or by moving the camera. In many cases the light source itself does not have to appear in the image. The term light painting also encompasses images lit from outside the frame with hand-held light sources.

Owling Meme Photos

Owling is a new trendy internet meme, the practice of crouching "like an owl" in unusual places. It refers to the act of sitting in a perched position while looking off into the distance as to mimic the posture of an owl.

‪Amazing Time-Lapse of Phoenix Dust Storm‬‏

These amazing pictures were shot by two photographers - Mike Olbinski and Blaine Coury - in Arizona. These time-lapse videos show a wall of dust moving through the city of Phoenix in Arizona. Sandstorms like this happen during the region's monsoon season, which is underway. They occur over desert land and can reach thousands of feet into the air, spurred by strong winds. The dense cloud dramatically reduced visibility, grounding flights at a major airport and leaving thousands without electricity. PS A haboob is a type of intense sandstorm commonly observed in arid regions throughout the world.

Wind Tunnel Skydiving

Indoor skydiving* wind tunnel in Skydive Arena in Prague Czech Republic.

4 way Routine with Havard (Skywalkers), Raph and Ju (Team4Speed) and Alberto (Volare) at Skydive Arena (Praha)

*Indoor Skydiving (or outdoor "Vertical Wind Tunnel Skydiving") is a unique way to experience the fun of real skydiving without jumping out of an airplane! Wind tunnels, similar to those normally used to test race cars and other vehicles, make a jet of heavy air powerful enough to support the human body and lift it as much as 90 feet above the ground.
