Singing Babushkas Represent Russia at Eurovision 2012
Folk group of six elderly women known as Buranovskiye Babushki (the Buranovo Grannies) will represent Russia at Eurovision this year. According to the BBC, “The lyrics to the song, which feature a mixture of English and Udmurt – a language related to Finnish – were written by the grandmothers.”

Azerbaijan wins 2011 Eurovision song contest
Ell (Eldar Gasimov) and Nikki (Nigar Jamaland) from Azerbaijan received the highest number of points from juries and televoters from the 43 countries participating in this year's edition of Europe's most popular music TV-show.*
